Mum's Stuff
I’m not precious about stuff. Stuff gets old, stuff gets broken, stuff gets lost. It’s all just stuff. I’m usually quick to say, “Never mind. No big deal…” to the kids when accidents happen. Usually. Not this time. I could have cried.
There are very few things in our home which are solely mine, and my laptop is one of them. It got a special mention in my 100th post, and in my blogaversary post. It was even the star of one of my earliest posts about maintaining a sense of self! But my gorgeous, purple, blossom patterned Dell Inspiron does NOT usually look like this:
Do you have any idea, any at all, how relieved I was when I discovered my son had only used the WHITEBOARD marker from my blogging wall calendar?!! Exhale. The pen marks rubbed straight off. No big deal.
And I was reminded again that stuff is just stuff.

oh phew!
Will never forget the day my friends triplets drew with permanent marker all over her PC screen! I cried for her!

*phew* thank goodness! lol
We weren’t so lucky when Annabelle decided to decorate our walls with permanent marker – one week after we moved into our new house!

I know stuff is just stuff and our family will always be most important, but for a good life balance, we are all entitled to love something that is solely about us! (and clearly your laptop is a big part of you) I’m glad to hear it is easily fixed.

So glad it came off so easily. When Kyan was a baby he drew all over my good doona and the wall with a lipstick and a permanent pen
I would have panicked!
Oh Cath. lol far out! I would have freaked too! But I agree; stuff is just stuff.

Cath, I know the feeling. I found my son had used a nice black pen on his brother’s bed. I did not think to much about it because it was just on his water proof protector. Well that was until I found the same pen marks on the lounge a few days later. I had to turned my back and walked away. It was to late to get upset about it. Maybe if I did not leave the pen lying around it might not happened. (This is why when I we got the lounge I payed the extra to get the fabric protection on it, with three boys I would have been silly not to.)
Oh, thank goodness, you gave me a fright then.

There is pen on the tv. I know who did it they wrote their name. Maybe I will learn one day not to leave pens where the kids can get them.
Stuff might be just stuff but when it has meaning and is gone for good some stuff is belongings. I lost all of my childhood belonging so I put a bit more value on my stuff now. Things that hold meaning and cant be replaced are treasures.
Didnt stop me painting my mums house when I was 3. My whole bedroom wall for as far as i could reach, luckily only water colours.
Kinda goes with the name “Squigglemum”.
Oh Cath!!!!
Oh Leanne!! LOLOLOL. Why didn’t I think of that?!! I could have made a really good post title…!
Yep, just stuff but that is hard to remember in the heat of the moment with something so important to you. Glad to hear it all worked out okay!

Oh Cath, I was right there with you all the way. My event involved scissors and my favourite sheets! – nothing a good stick on patch didn’t fix.
“When we detach ourselves from the outcome we can truly see the event for what it is” (although I may have made up the words, this quote stems from any number of teachings – Buddhism, Yoga, Quantum Physics and of course, the Law of Squiggle!)

Oh boy – sometimes when stuff happens and we I’m not in the right frame of mind… I blow a fuse (especially when I’m tired)… but you are right… stuff is stuff and it’s usually not as bad as if first looks.

What a relief! And I love the patterns on your laptop! (The blossoms, not the marker scribbles! Heh)

So glad the marker came off. I am like you, don’t have many things that are just mine, but have a couple. Like my camera, which was ripped out of its bag and lenses were all over the floor. I almost cried, luckily DH was there to check it all and put away. DS1 had climbed up two cupboard shelves to get it.

I am so pleased that my macbook is nearly indestructible. The amount of times it has been hurled off the couch and I’ve stopped breathing I can’t even count. I thank the shell (made from one piece of aluminium). But I can’t imagine I would react calmly if it was defaced!
