Did you catch The 7pm Project last night? They ran a story on giving gifts like goats instead of spending billions of dollars on, well, stuff.
I blogged about gifts of Compassion a couple of months ago but I’m more than happy to mention them again because they are a charity and ministry I truly believe in. I also truly believe most of us have more stuff than we could possibly need, while others have barely the necessities. If you are still after a few last minute gifts for hard-to-buy-for rellies, try one of these ideas. Put a Compassion card with a small present for a gift that gives...

Making the toilet roll nativity scene has become somewhat of a tradition in our house. This is the fourth Christmas with children in our home and the fourth rendition of the loo roll nativity!
The first year my daughter was still very young, so I just made Mary and Joseph and a little manger for baby Jesus. She was at the crawling and chomping stage so the characters were pretty well trashed by the time Christmas...

I just love being able to get out this fabulous felt board set each Christmas. My sister-in-law made it for my kids a couple of years ago. The board is a simple mdf square, and the background felt is attached with velcro dots. All of the characters are cut from craft felt. (If fiddling with felt pieces is not for you, check out my friend Narelle‘s suggestion for making nativity felt board characters using...

I am not a perfect person. Just someone who tries hard, loves life, and wears a smile – most of the time.
I am not a perfect Christian. Just someone who knows she needs God in her life.
I am not a perfect mum. Just someone who is willing to share her parenting experiences with others.
I am not a perfect wife. Just someone who loves her husband as much on the bad days as on the good.

I’m playing Toddler Translation again with Childhood 101 and this week’s word is trust.
trust [truhst] –noun
reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence.

Families are built on trust.

There is no fear in this photo.
There is freedom in trust.
As a family

I thought I’d revisit this old post from January, since it is featured in the current edition of Footprints Magazine. You can become a fan of Footprints on facebook or read their blog here.
I had the most fabulous facial on the weekend. An hour to myself, uninterrupted by a needy baby or a demanding toddler. An hour of quiet bliss. I had not one, not two, but three exfoliations to get my skin glowing. As each...

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that Little Miss Three has a vivid imagination. She loves make believe games, and has more than one or two imaginary little friends. So I wasn’t surprised that she asked this question at breakfast. Since a few mums have asked me how to explain God to kids, I thought you’d like to eavesdrop on our conversation. It went something...

I know, it’s still only September, but the countdown to Christmas is on. Blogging-mamas have started sharing their plans, shopping mamas have started eyeing off Christmas displays, and crafty mamas have started creating gifts. Personally I love Christmas and I love gift giving. But when it comes to gift getting? I have enough stuff. Really I do.
I don’t know when I got so grown up. I look around...

The floor was mopped last night. It was sparkling clean. And this morning I swept this much up off it, after only breakfast. *sigh*
Cleaning up gets me down. I feel really good about our home (and about myself actually) when it’s clean and tidy, and I don’t mind hard work. It’s just that it needs doing over, and over, and over again. It’s relentless. I mop the floor, the kids spill...

WINNER ANNOUNCED!
Congratulations to Gail who has won a signed copy of Narelle’s devotional book Moments for Mum. It was quite tricky to count the entries for this comp, but we had 21 entries and the randomly chosen winning number was 19. Thanks to those who are now following this blog, or Narelle’s blog. Thanks also to everyone who shared Bible verses – I didn’t realise what an encouragement...
