Splish, Splosh, Splash!

In case you haven’t heard, we’ve had rain in Brisbane. Lots of rain.

The kind of rain that floods

backyards

and kindergartens

and laundries (sigh).

But you know me.

I’m a puddle half-full kind of girl…

Without heavy rain:

we might never wear gumboots.

Without heavy rain:

we might never know the joy of jumping in puddles.

Without heavy rain:

we might never discover some of nature’s secrets.

Without heavy rain:

we might never have the opportunity to

splish, and splosh, and splash together.

*

Do you play in the rain?

We do.  And we love it!

We love the rain! My boys love hopping in puddles and floating boats in streams that aren’t there when it’s not raining. Last week, we headed to a new-to-us park during the rain & pretty much had the entire place to ourselves!

Fortunately our kids love to play in the rain as we have lots of opportunity here in N Ireland :)

Some beautiful pictures, wonder if they can inspire my little one to not be so worried about the rain? It started spitting last night as we were on our wlak and she was all for heading back to the car. So was I, but that was more because the scootering was no going as planned. Knew we should have taken the bike!

We’ve had a lot of early rain so far this year here in the north too. My boys love to run in the rain.

We have a bit of a struggle with the rain. One of the grandmothers has taught my little one that you get sick if you go in the rain…I am trying to teach her that if we dress right with our gumboots (we loooove gumboots) and raincoat it is ok to go and play in the rain. There is very little in this world that is more fun than jumping in puddles!!!

  7. I am going out today to buy the boys new gum boots and I am determine that next rain they will be out there in it. It makes me nervous with Mr 4′s Asthma but if I don’t risk it I will never know. Hhhmmmm need to keep telling myself that one.

  8. My kids love the rain. I can handle it if it’s not too cold and windy, like on our recent school camp which ruined two expensive brollies. But I picked up a pair of funky rainboots for myself in the end of season sale (kids already have their own), so I’m much happier sploshing around in puddles this time of the year.

What a lovely post. There’s nothing more joyous to see than a kid stomping in puddles and squelching in mud with glee!

without heavy rain, I suspect you might not get as much use of all of those fabulous gumboots!

without heavy rain, we might never appreciate our stage 4a water restrictions being reduced. :O)
